The City of Westwego serves as a popular launching point for bayou excursions and several swamp tours, and is home of an extensive seafood marketing which offers fresh fish caught from the waters of Louisiana.

The Historic District of Westwego is centered on Sala Avenue. The area is being redeveloped for visitors and locals. Westwego Farmers and Fisheries Market is home to an array of fresh produce, arts, seafood, crafts and is open Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. Free outdoor concerts are offered during the summer and fall. Inside the Fisherman’s exchange building is the Westwego Historic Museum is an old time hardware store.
